Sudara: Conceptualizing SS RTW Collection

SS 24 RTW Collection Conceptualization and Visualization
During my years of study in design, I harbored a deep longing to draw inspiration from my ethnicity and infuse it into the fashion landscape. Finally, I seized the opportunity to do so during the final phase of my assignments.

The task at hand was to conceptualize a fashion collection and execute subsequent shoots and styling for a select few looks. The collection was to draw inspiration from a flower and be designed for a distinguished personality, tailored to suit a specific occasion. Thus, I conceived the 'Sudara' collection for Spring/Summer Ready-to-Wear (RTW), deriving its name from the Pahadi dialect of Himachal Pradesh, where "Sudara" signifies "Beauty". My primary motivation was to illuminate the rich diversity inherent in Himachali culture and traditional attire. To exemplify this, I chose the esteemed celebrity Kangana Ranaut, a proud Himachali herself, who actively advocates for Pahadi culture while exhibiting an exquisite sense of fashion.

In selecting the flower for inspiration, I turned to the majestic mountains and ridges of the north, which are adorned with the breathtaking rhododendron, locally known as 'Buransh'—also the state flower of Himachal Pradesh. Drawing from the captivating allure of these flowers and as a tribute to the mountains and their cultural heritage, the Sudara collection is tailored for Kangana Ranaut to attend the Vasantotva festival, also known as Pipal Jatra. It is a celebration deeply rooted in the essence of spring, culture, and community. Originally centered around local deity worship, it has evolved into a celebration of culture and tradition. Held at Dhalpur Ground, it features rituals, local deities, and the Raja of Kullu under a Pipal Tree. Today, it showcases diverse arts and traditions from Kullu, India, and beyond, with cultural performances and a bustling market offering crafts and cuisine.

In summary, the 'Sudara' collection represents not just a fusion of fashion and culture but a celebration of heritage and identity. I hope this collection serves as a testament to the richness of our cultural heritage and inspires others to explore and embrace their own roots in their creative pursuits.
